About Jason

Jason Stewartʼs professional editing career began in about 1998 when he worked as an assistant editor in the commercial post production business in San Francisco. He moved to Los Angeles and quickly started working as a reality TV editor. He has since worked on more than 40 shows and series, several times serving as supervising editor, starting with small cable shows and graduating to bigger network shows including “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, “The Amazing Race,” and "The Voice."

In 2005, Jason was given a chance to help edit a film called “Sleeping Dogs Lie.” After working with Jason on a portion of the film, the director, Bobcat Goldthwait, gave Jason the job of completing the film and preparing it for the upcoming Sundance Festival, where it was very well received. It was then that the film bug bit.

Since that experience, Jason has been fortunate to work on a variety of independent feature films, including “Worldʼs Greatest Dad” starring Robin
Williams, another of many collaborations with Bobcat.

Transitioning from reality TV to feature films has been a tricky road, but Jason has found that a long background in unscripted editing has given him a unique perspective on narrative projects, and the story sense that someone develops when handed countless hours of raw footage and is asked to make it tell a particular story has refined his ability to bring a feature filmʼs message into focus.
